Science Dome

In the Science Dome, we learnt about space and it was so much fun. It was an amazing experience, like a planetarium. Our mentor, Steve, made it sound so real. In the middle of the dome was a huge projector. To keep the dome inflated, there was a fan. At first it was a bit scary and pitch black. So that he could keep everything under control, Steve had a remote control. We learnt about black holes and that there is one in our galaxy (Milky Way). In addition, we learnt about constellations, dog's collar and Perseus. Also, that Jupiter rotates the fastest and Mercury rotates the slowest.

Swanwick Lakes

On 12th April, 5TM went to Swanwick Lakes and we had a really fun time. It was amazing there, although it was quite muddy.

Our first activity was pond dipping. We had a net which we used to catch creatures in the pond.

Our main priority was to discover the quality. We could determine this by the creatures we netted.
Next, we went to the stream to carry out some experiments. We were in groups of five and each of us waded into the water to carry out the experiments. We had to measure the water depth, width and speed.

After that, we had our lunch. Next, we climbed up the new hill which they had built.

We also talked about the water cycle.
After all of this, it was time to go home.
